water tower, melchbourne

On an axis with the adjacent listed cottage and part-sunken contemporary extension, the water tower stands silhouetted against the dark green woodlands to the rear whilst looking proudly out, at the listed cottage, church and landscape beyond.

The water tower has been converted into a series of vertically stacked rooms with an endless pool to the ground floor, a small gym to the middle and a spectacular bedroom to the very top floor. An external industrial looking stair gives you access to the middle level via a balconied front that over looks the listed cottage and church views.

The water tower has been extended upwards, within the bedroom area, with a 360 degree glazing element, giving the external appearance of a glass box. This glazed element positions you within the canopy of the tree lines creating a tranquil and calming environment.
