The project involved the demolition of the existing conservatory, and the replacement with a contemporary single storey extension, which also saw the existing internal partitioned spaces knocked through to create a large kitchen/dining/family room.
The design of the extension is contemporary in style to contrast with the existing brick house. This ensures that the extension is read as a separate element and does not try to blend in with the existing architecture.
The kitchen occupies one side of the room, with storage and the family seating area on the other side. In the centre at the rear, adjacent to the sliding folding doors into the garden and underneath the new skylight is the family dining table.
