The project consisted of a change of use from a redundant public house to ten private apartments.
On a tight urban site adjacent to a conservation area a hybrid solution emerged. The original architectural language of the public house was retained and replicated on the new adjacent extension. The second extension, away from the conservation area boundary, was more autonomous and contemporary using black bricks and steel windows.
A variety of residential units were created, some two storey and all with external amenity space. The quirkiness of the original building allowed a variety of interesting living spaces to be created, including sunken ensuite shower rooms and high ceiling living rooms.
